Hello ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

Welcome to lightwaves, a liminal garden to nurture small and big emotions.

I wanted a space where I could safely explore the threshold between my inner and outer worlds, in addition to finding my voice and strengthening my intuition. That threshold is full of desires and dreams I’ve categorically denied time and time again in pursuit of expectations foisted upon me.

tl;dr: I want to write about things that feel true to me, no matter how strange or nerdy or niche or emotional people think they are. I want to write about passions.

What you will find here

  • Lots of thoughts on growing up and reckoning my womanhood with my girlhood.

  • Deep dives into whatever I’m reading at the moment. Typically runs the gamut of fabulism, magical realism, weird fiction, and non-fiction centered around food or strange histories about strange things.

  • Stories about clothing! Specifically secondhand and vintage fashion. And the masochism required to make your own clothing.

  • Love letters to music, which I’m convinced is the greatest gift humanity has ever received. Come for the tunes, stay for the boogie.

  • Lamentations on whatever video games I’m struggling through… so Elden Ring (for now).

  • High-level musings on what it means to create, the role of beauty in art and our lives, and how one’s happiness might be tied to all of this.

A little about me

I grew up in Los Angeles. Bears and mountain lions were my neighbors, novels my steadfast companions. It’s not surprising that I soon dreamt of telling stories, and I’ve been walking down that path ever since.

After a long stint in marketing and communications, I decided to take a sabbatical to redirect my energy and time into making things of my own accord. Although I spent the past decade creating for others, it’s all unfamiliar territory when it comes to creating for myself. So, I’m spending that newbie enthusiasm reacquainting myself with what brings me joy and what I would like to create.

Now I call San Francisco my home, where I spend the better part of the day battling the fog and wishing the sun would come out to play. But it’s a beautiful, special city right by the sea – and the sea is a good place to think of the future.
